Marian Cieślak (1950–2016) was one of the few researchers in Europe to undertake systematic scientific studies of bird feathers, with particular emphasis on birds of prey and owls. His work helped advance the study and practical identification of feathers, an area that has historically received considerably less attention than visual identification, vocalizations, nests and eggs.

This book goes far beyond simple feather identification.
